National Watermelon Day
Happy National Watermelon Day!
Summertime is the perfect time to indulge in watermelons!
Not only are they hydrating and sweet, but chomping on a slice helps cool you down, grounds your energy, clears your skin, takes some stress off of your liver, balances your Pitta or internal "fire" and is loaded with beneficial antioxidants.
Antioxidants combat the damage of free radicals, those pesky unstable particles that find their way to you by way of unhealthy foods and fats that steal electrons from your cells, causing cell mutations that over time can cause imbalances and even lead to cancer. (yikes!)
Watermelons are also a great source of vitamin C [necessary for a strong immune system,] vitamin A [helps keep skin plumpy and hair shiny,] are high in fiber [great for combatting constipation and keeping your digestive system regular,] contain choline [necessary for the structure of cells, neuron impulses, proper sleep, muscle movement, memory, and fat metabolism] and is great for internal inflammation.
Watermelons are dope. They also help lift your mood..because well, everyone is always happy when they're chomping on a watermelon slice.
