SAFFRON

Known as Keshar, Saffron is one of the most expensive and prized herbs on the planet. One flower provides three strands of saffron, and it takes about 160 flowers to make a small 1g pot like this one I purchased in India.

Saffron has a nourishing effect on the blood (rakta dhatu) and on our nutritive essence (rasa dhatu.) It's cordial effect on the brain and heart give the plant it's romantic reputation. Whenever you see saffron, think blood, heart, circulation, gynecology, nerves, and reproduction.

It helps boost energy in the morning or revive you after a long day, helps overcome nervous tension and insomnia, enhances sexual potency and blood circulation, and is beneficial for anemia, liver congestion, speeding up the healing process, easing pain, and nourishing nervous tissue.

To make Kashmiri Tea:

Brew 1/2 tsp green tea in 2 cups of water.

Add 3 saffron threads, 1 crushed cardamom seed, 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon, and 2 1/2 tsp shredded almonds.

Sweeten and enjoy!
